Looking to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh? If you already have college experience, learn more about how transfer credits work when you apply to college as a transfer. View the credit and GPA guidelines below to learn more about transferring to Pitt.
Transfer Guidelines by School/CollegeCompetitive prospective transfer students typically have completed 24 or more college credits with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher and have a strong college preparatory high school record predictive of college-level success. Applicants’ academic histories are reviewed ‘holistically’ and cumulatively so students with a weaker high school record may need to have earned more college-level credits than others (48-60) to be considered competitive. Likewise, significant life and/or work experiences, if communicated in your application essay, will be part of your admission review. Should you have questions about applying, call 412-624-7488, and ask to speak with a transfer counselor.
Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences applicants who have earned 48 or more credits will be expected to have satisfactorily completed one college-level English composition course and a college-level algebra class (or higher level math) with a ‘C’ grade or better. Students who have not completed these requirements will be reviewed on an individual basis.
The fewer credits a prospective student has earned, the more weight is placed on academic performance in high school.
